Fire Maintenance Services
When you are the owner of a business or commercial property, be it as an employer, landlord, or occupier, you are responsible for ensuring the building meets with current fire safety standards.
As a responsible owner, you will want to ensure the smooth and safe running of your day to day working activities. When it comes to fire safety, you have certain obligations to fulfil according to The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. This means that you will need to ensure that all correct fire equipment is installed and maintained to a set quality standard.
Fire equipment maintenance
To ensure that your installed fire prevention and protection systems are working reliably, they must be regularly maintained by fully qualified fire safety technicians, and the government regulations make your ongoing maintenance of equipment a legal necessity. Failure to do so will not only potentially endanger lives should there be a fire emergency, but it will make it difficult to make an insurance claim for fire damage without proof of well maintained fire equipment being in place.
Fire Alarm System testing
According to the British Standard BS5839-1:2013 regulation, your fire alarm should be serviced by a competent person at least every 6 months. However, the rate of inspection visits will increase according to the fire risks involved. The greater the risk of fire at the premises – the more frequently a test should be done. To establish the correct frequency for testing you should carry out a fire risk assessment. We can do this for you and will recommend a schedule based on your working practices along with the level of fire protection you currently have installed within your premises.
DRAM fire safety engineers are trained to the highest level and are kept up to date with the latest fire regulations currently in force. This guarantees that we meet or exceed set regulatory requirements. Our fully comprehensive service will give you great peace of mind knowing that your fire protection systems are in full working order and are fully compliant with current fire safety regulations.
Emergency Lighting
It is essential that you have fully functional emergency lighting in place and DRAM can also include your emergency lighting within your fire alarm maintenance contract. We will maintain your emergency lighting systems in accordance with BS 5266-1:2011 regulations. We can advise and make recommendations for upgrades where needed, especially when taking over a new premises.
Fire Extinguishers
British Standard BS5306 part 3:2009, states that Fire Extinguishers should be serviced by a competent person at 12 monthly intervals. A competent person is described within the code as a “person with the qualifications, training and experience, with access to the relevant tools, equipment and information, manuals and knowledge of any special procedures recommended by the manufacturer of an extinguisher, to carry out the relevant maintenance procedures”.
We here at DRAM make it our number one priority to equip our fire safety engineers with the most up to date knowledge of the current fire regulations and specialist training. This ensures that all our team deliver a personal workmanship of very high standards far above regulatory requirements.
